Christmas [27 Dec 2005|07:07pm]
Christmas was enjoyable. On Sunday I got to see my grandma and my uncle don. I got to see my brother, his fioncee, my cousins, aunts, and uncles on Monday. It was good to have the family together, I have to say that I'm blessed with a really great one.

For presents I got the narnia series, Tennessee William's Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, Edward Albee's Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, a few books on writing, a dvd player for my dorm room, season 6 of Seinfeld and the Simpsons, and some shirts (include the awesome Zelda shirt from catherine).

Hope everyone's having a good break.

3 days until christmas and amazon hasn't delivered yet [22 Dec 2005|09:44pm]
[ mood | calm ]

Well I have three things I haven't received from Amazon.com yet that I need to give people for christmas. Maybe I shouldn't have waited until this week to order things...hm...

By the way, if I've told you that I've gotten you a christmas present, you'd better hang out with me before i forget where i put yours.

A little work and a little play makes Matt something something... [20 Dec 2005|11:25pm]
[ mood | tired ]

Started work again today in Providence. I have to build a database, which I have no clue how to do so I have to use the information superhighway to teach me. But it's fun (other companies give us christmas chocolates).

On Friday Night we had the company christmas party. Nothing like 44 drunk 45 year olds. But cain went with me so it was cool. Then Saturday I hung out with catherine and jenna all day. On Monday the three of us plus mr. landoch went to the silver city galleria. Chris and I looked at many many video games, yet purchased none. He was drooling pretty good over The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. Two clerks at Electronics Boutique had to muzzle him and drag him outside. Then we went to bath and body works (which was obviously me and chris's idea and not jenna and catherine's). We got Orange Julius's and tricked catherine into thinking we were talking "smack" about her. Many a dirty, distrustful glare was shot.
Tonight Cain and I got lost in massachusetts (not my fault this time :P)

Halloween and other assorted love songs [13 Nov 2005|12:27pm]
[ mood | blank ]

I haven't updated in a while so I'll have to go over everything that's happened in super-abridged form. First of all, here's a picture of me in my Halloween Costume.Collapse )
Go Wal-Mart costumes!
I went to see ben folds last weekend. That was fun, although I wish he played more stuff from the Ben Folds Five years. And stupid boston has a curfew so he had to stop at 11. We got pretty lost too, but I like getting lost (because I'm never driving so I don't feel bad).
My friend Ian found a french rap song and used the altavista translator to put it into english, and it came up with some great lines, among them: "I love you a little much with the madness passionately."

Update?? [07 Oct 2005|08:14am]
[ mood | cheerful ]

Wow, I haven't updated in a while. I keep thinking I do, but I don't. Weird...

WELL, let's see.
Firstly, the radio show has been going ok lately. In our second week we did a disney hour and a beatles hour. Itunes gave us lousy mp3s for the disney hour, which makes me cry (all the alladin stuff sounded bad ::cries::) And last week nobody unlocked the radio station door so I couldn't do the show. I was going to play an hour of paul simon and simon and garfunkel, so I might give the cd I made to liz (my co-host) and ask her to put it on (but she might not). So, actually, come to think of it, the show hasn't been going that smoothly I suppose. Oh well.

Classes are good. I actually enjoy my Biochemistry class (HUH?!). It totally destroys the Luzitanian theorum: Biology + Chemistry = miserable Luzo. I suppose I should rework it.
English class is cool. I really got into some of the poetry he had us read (Shakespeare's Sonnets and Elizabeth Bishop poems).
I started trying to write in blank verse (iambic pentameter with no rhyme), and it really makes reading aloud more fun. People at the writer's guild meeting seemed to like the sonnet I wrote.
Philosophy class is fun, we've started going over logic. Here's an example about Elvis:

"If Elvis died, he died either when he was living or when he was dead. But he did not die while living; for assuredly he was living nad as living he had not died. Nor when he died; for then he would be twice dead. Therefore, Elvis did not die."

Calculus is Calculus.

I've also watched a lot of movies lately. Last night we watched Ladder 49 which was pretty good but a bit predictable. Before that we watched Schindler's List, which is of course an amazing piece. Before that we watched One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, which I've seen about 10 times and I still love it. I saw Crash, which was good. Before that we did the whole LOTR trilogy. Film club is going to be showing the 6 star wars movies, one per night, when the 3rd one comes out on dvd. That should be cool.

Now, let me try to remember to update before christmas.

Uncle Vernon [13 Sep 2005|08:51am]
[ mood | cheerful ]

I created a "We Love Uncle Vernon" group on facebook, because he is a funny man.

In other news, I might get a radio slot (saturdays 2-4 i think). Groovy.

Week #2 [10 Sep 2005|11:29am]
[ mood | complacent ]

This week was interesting. i had a three day weekend which means i allowed myself some loafing time. I acquired a taste for it, unfortunately, and have been doing quite a bit of it during the schoolweek :P But it's cool here, i dig it.
My roommate and i are thinking doing a tarintino marathon. The video store up the street rents $1 for 7 days and they have all his flicks. Snoogans.
We're also thinking of getting a cardboard cutout of gandalf and dressing him up seasonly (santa claus hat, ghost outfit, pilgrim, sunglasses and exotic drink, etc.)
Hope everyone else is having a good college experience.

Rain? [29 Aug 2005|06:16pm]
[ mood | cheerful ]

Wow, it's going to rain all week here. Luckily I like rain. I don't know why some people don't like rain. I think it's pretty relaxing and I don't mind getting caught in it. Oh well.
My computer is now online so I'm not completely lost here. Cool.

1st day in farmington [28 Aug 2005|09:13pm]
[ mood | aggravated ]

Yeah so being up in maine is really weird. I was just reading everybody's live journal and it feels like i don't really know any of these people, like they're all just characters in a book or something. I feel so disconnected from everybody, even the people i don't really see much in person. School seems so separate from my life back home that it's hard when i'm here to feel like i still know everybody. I actually feel a little guilty for some reason whenever i talk to anybody because i feel like i'm the only person who needs to still talk to everybody back home.
But at least there are vending machines in the lobby, woo-hoo!

Apparently I have 2 hours and 15 minutes of english on Wednesday.  I'm just glad it's not ::shudders:: interdisciplinary science.

I don't know if I passed the health quiz they gave (I took it so that I could get out of the Tuesday morning lectures).  Unfortunately, 90% of the questions were about vaginas, which I do not have.  I should probably get one if I expect to pass the class (just like coach presto's health class).

Music [03 Aug 2005|02:15am]
[ mood | calm ]

For some reason music I was listening to today wasn't hitting me quite like it used to. I like to listen to entire albums by artists rather than just individual songs because I think part of an artist's work is how he/she/they put together an album as a whole.
I don't know why, but some of my favorite albums weren't hitting me the way they used to. I used to love listening to Jimi Hendrix's "Are You Experienced?" which features gems like Purple Haze, Hey Joe, Manic Depression, The Wind Cries Mary, as well as other favorites of mine. Today it just didn't play to me like it used to. Maybe my mindset has changed a little.
But it was that way with all the cds I listened to--Pink Floyd's The Wall, Ben Folds Five's The Unauthorized Biography of Rheinhold Messner, etc.

Oh well.

My Courses [10 Jul 2005|09:36am]
[ mood | sleepy ]

Course Day Building Room
Chinese Culture Monday, Wednesday, Friday Robert 201
Literary Analysis & Interpretation Monday, Wednesday, Friday Robert 201
Intro to Regional Geography Monday, Wednesday, Friday Robert 201
Western Thought: Ancient-Medieval TBA Honors Building 002
Caculus I Monday, Wednesday, Friday Robert 201
Gym Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday Gymnasium N/A
Five classes on Monday, Wednesday, Friday (unless western thought is also on those days, which would mean I would have to be in two classes at once and I don't have a time machine).

It should be a weird first semester. Nothing to do on Tuesdays and Thursdays (except work for Wednesday and Friday). Crazy stuff.

I got to see DMB in concert last night. It was a great show but he played about 7 songs from his new album (which isn't that great) so I didn't know any of them. He did play a bunch of cool ones that I did know, though, among them: Everyday, Crush, Don't Drink the Water, #34, and they closed with Rapunzel which was awesome.

A lot of really obvious songs he didn't play though (Satellite, Ants Marching, Crash Into Me, to name a few). Oh well, it still owned.
